The story of Arzum Döner begins with Selahattin Akkaşoğlu, who worked alongside his father, a master quilt maker, until he went to military service. Upon his return, he opened a trousseau shop named “Arzum,” saying, “It is the desire and dream of every young girl.” A lover of quality food and eager to turn his passion into a profession, Selahattin Akkaşoğlu transitioned into the food industry in 1984 and brought the name “Arzum” to the döner shop he opened. Located in Dönerciler Çarşısı, Antalya’s famous gastronomic hub at the time, this modest shop quickly became one of the most admired döner places in Antalya with its delicious döner, complimentary offerings, and quality service. As Selahattin Akkaşoğlu nurtured the business like a family member, blending local flavors with impeccable service quality, Arzum Döner gained a loyal following. While Dönerciler Çarşısı eventually lost its prominence over time, only Arzum Döner survived, continuing its journey from that local school of döner-making. In this process, Selahattin Akkaşoğlu’s son, Ünal Akkaşoğlu, became his father’s biggest supporter. Having practically grown up in the restaurant, Ünal Akkaşoğlu took over the management of the family heirloom, Arzum Döner, after completing his higher education, transforming the brand into its modern structure today.
